Yes, it’s inevitable, no matter how much we want them to stay little they all grow up!!
I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.
So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.
I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:
Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.
The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.
So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.
Let them be little.

Every July I have made it tradition to measure Lance and Ryan to see how they have grown over the past year. I mark it on the wall in the back hallway. I have planned for a while to transfer their measurements to something that can be taken with us if and when we ever leave this house. Well since today was measuring day I did it!! I still have to attach it permanently to the wall and I am going to add a quote to it somewhere. I am pleased so far.
It will be attached right above the base molding and it measures all the way to 6 1/2 feet. I doubt either of them will make it past that:)
The Red is Lance and the Black is Ryan.
This really puts into perspective how “little” Ryan is. He is 1/4 of an inch shorter at 4 and 1/2 years old than Lance was at 3 years and 4 months old!!! That’s a 1 year and 3 month age difference. This will be a great keepsake when the boys are grown!!
